Here are the rules for the event.  I'm in the process of talking with each unit that's invited and laying out what we're looking for/ a time and day to do this.  It should be in the next couple of weeks though.  I'm excited!  Remember, this event is all about having fun, not winning.  We're running off the honor system here so please don't abuse the rules.  I expect you guys to follow these rules and play fairly.  Anyone who gets caught cheating is going to probably get kicked from the event and then have a chat with me about it.  We're going to self police ourselves and hopefully have a great time.

Objective
Capture all spawn points or reduce the enemy army's points to 0.

Regiment List
  32nd Regiment of Foot
  1st East Prussian Infantry
  4th Regiment of Foot
  4pp

Scenario Planning

Before the event takes place, commanders of each invited regiment will be given a map of Borodino and some limited intelligence regarding its makeup. Each regiment should plan to make as many platoons as possible which will consist of:
        1 Officer
        8 Rankers
One of these platoons will be designated as the color guard.  See the Color Guard section below for more details.

There will also be one artillery battery for each team consisting of:
        1 Officer
        6 Rankers

It is recommended that these groups be planned ahead of time but this is not mandatory.  Right before the event begins the teams will be assigned.  Commanders of the regiments may choose where to initially spawn.  If you are on the Russian team you will have 4 choices.  Either the Town of Borodino, The Great Redoubt, the Bagration Fleches or the Russian base located in the Village of Gorki.  If you are on the French team there are 2 choices, the Artillery position and the French base.

RULES

General Gameplay
When the game begins, each team will try to work together using all the platoons at their disposal to capture and hold the key points on the map.  Although each platoon has a fair amount of freedom to move independently they must work together on a grand tactical scale in order to achieve victory.  We are encouraging communication and cooperation between platoons to create an immersive tactical experience.

Casualties/Reinforcements

Each team has a reinforcement point which needs to be captured as soon as possible. This point is, in essence, your teams' supply line.  If this point is not in your control, none of your troops may re-spawn.  If you are killed during the battle and the reinforcement point is controlled by your team you may re-spawn but you may not move away from this point unless one of the following requirements is met:
-6 men from your regiment re-spawn with you and you march back into the field
-Your platoon comes to pick you up in proper marching fashion
If you re-spawn and your reinforcement point comes under attack before either of the 2 requirements above is met, you may defend the point by whatever means necessary but may not leave the vicinity once the attack is repelled.
If you are an artillery man you may accompany another platoon if they agree to escort you to your gun position; artillery men may not go by themselves.

Routing
Each platoon will have a limit to how many men they can lose before they become ineffective as a unit.  Once a unit is down to 3 men they must break ranks and fall in with the closest friendly unit or fall back to the reinforcement point as quickly and efficiently as possible.
If you are in melee and you drop below 3 men you may continue to defend yourself to the last man if you so choose but you must retreat to a friendly unit immediately afterwards if you survive.

Color Guard / Capturing Colors
Each team will designate one platoon as the color guard and one man in that platoon will be a standard bearer.  The standard bearer must keep the flag visible at all times.  This means that the standard bearer will not be permitted to fight and must rely on the color guard to protect him.  Battle honors will be awarded to those that capture enemy colors.  For clarity, there will only be two flags on the field, 1 French, 1 Russian.  If the standard bearer dies, a ranker may pick up the flag to prevent its capture but may not fight.  If you capture the enemy colors you must keep it visible in order to give them a chance to get it back.  If a standard bearer dies after losing the flag he should spawn as a regular ranker to prevent multiple flags being on the field.  Ideally there will be 1 flag of each faction floating around being captured and recaptured.

Artillery Crews
Artillery crews will primarily man the guns at their chosen position.  However, if circumstances call for it they may pick up muskets (if they are available) and move out as a unit using line infantry tactics and formations.  This is dangerous since at full strength an artillery platoon is only 7 men.  If they reach 3 they must break and fall in with a friendly unit until artillery reinforcements can be picked up.  Obviously this would be rare but these rules must be followed if it happens.

This sounds amazing! I think some tactics with several units working together would be epic. Also, I will try to attend the events on Friday and Saturday this week. If my schedule stays steady I may rejoin the regiment as a full member.

Great stuff.

For my understanding.
If you are defending a flag and your formation ends up below 3, do you have to abandon that flag and retreat?

Brookmanz

Yes. You must either fall back to the reinforcement point or retreat to the nearest friendly unit.

Raegenhere

but if you are in a melee, you can choose to fight to death (or victory, in the case you have to fall back to the nearerst friendly unit after the fight)
at least this is how i unterstand it.

Rethmeier

You take the flag with you of course.  But yes,  you must find friendlies if you're below 3

This is correct.

If by "flag" you mean capture point, then yes this is correct.  If you mean the company colors, then no you do not have to abandon the flag, you can take it with you.
